Why Heat-Treated Lumber Matters for Export

Large stack of wooden pallets

What Heat Treatment Actually Does

Heat treatment raises the core of the wood to 56°C for at least 30 minutes, killing pests and pathogens without chemicals. The result is an ISPM 15 stamp that customs authorities around the world recognize on sight.

Skip it, and your shipment can be held, fumigated, or returned at the border — delays that cost far more than the treatment ever would.

Reading the Stamp

Every compliant pallet carries the IPPC mark, a country code, a unique facility number, and the HT designation. If any of those are missing, treat the pallet as non-compliant.
